Hello again,
This is Brian, I am 60 years old , as of June , 2010 launch of this site anyway, after that you can do the math.:) I am originally from a small community in eastern Maine, the true Down East. I am a graduate of the University of Maine. Thought I was going to be a high school math teacher but wound up spending 30 years in broadcast TV production. I have lived in a lot of places around the country but never have experienced the sense of belonging that I do since having moved to Arizona. I guess I found the proverbial "it" here. A lot of people spend a lifetime looking for that magical "it" and never find it. So, I consider myself very fortunate to be an Arizonan.
At birth I inherited a neuro/muscular disease called spastic quadraplegia. In my youth it was tolerable but when I passed 40, the disease advanced pretty quickly and at this point mobility is a lot of effort and hard work. I was supposed to have been in a wheelchair 30 years ago but I have fought every step of way. It would be a lot easier to give in to the chair but once I do, that will be the end of life as I have known it. The disease has forced me into an early retirement. Becoming a still photographer seemed a natural extension of my video career, not to mention the process is personally rewarding and fun. I enjoy photographing the Arizona, that people don't see, don't know about and don't take time to look at, My Arizona. Never say never but therefore you will most likely never see the Grand Canyon here. Because of my mobility problems 99% of my photos are taken through the open window of my car's driver's seat. If I need a better angle I drive my car into a ditch or up an embankment. :)
Somebody once said, "a photographer is a taxidermist of time", perhaps more so a photographer is a taxidermist of memories. In this site you will find many memories. At the least, I hope you enjoy the tour and at the best adopt a memory and buy a print. There are lots of memories up for adoption on the menu bar under photos for sale. I also have a message board where you can leave feedback good or bad, suggestions or just say Hi. Thanks for stopping by. BT
